Some believe that the porrones come from bird-shaped vessels of Gallic origin, while others think that they may have their origin in the horns from which the Romans drank. They filled them from the top and drank from the thin side, plugging them with their finger when they didn't want any more, a somewhat uncomfortable method that, although it was perfected with a stopper at the bottom, did not end up lasting.
